Each system is made up of numerous structures known as bronchioles. The entire system is made up of a series of structures. Some of the more common structures include the:

The lungs are a very important part of the respiratory system. In fact, if you think about it, without the lungs we wouldn’t be able to breathe.

Breathing is dependent on oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the air. When you breathe in air, the oxygen is dissolved in the blood. Once it is in the blood, it must travel to the lungs where it will be carried in the blood stream until it reaches the muscles, which will then take over and transport the oxygen to the different parts of the body.
