Race Writing Strategy Worksheet

When I’m teaching myself how to write about race, I see that the race strategy worksheet is very important in helping me learn how to set up the race. The race strategy worksheet has a simple format. It’s divided into two sections. Section A is the preparation of the race itself and Section B is the race itself. This worksheet is very effective in showing you how to prepare for a race. You can also use it as an answer key to the race questions.

The Race Writing Strategy worksheet is divided into three main areas: A question prompt, a prepared response, and the race. Each of these areas is divided into two sub-topics. The question prompt contains four basic questions: who, what, where, when, and why. The prepared response has ten different forms: (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F), (G), (H), (I), (J), (K), and (L). The race consists of seven parts: (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F), and (G). Finally, the form that best describes your situation is “none”.

The question prompt and prepared response can be used in conjunction with the race category in the race writing strategy. For example, if your goal is to do well on the short answer portion, answer the questions regarding the category that best describes your situation (e.g., ” percentile of blacks and/or women on a 1% scale in a state high school”. If you’re unfamiliar with a category, just note it on your worksheet. This strategy can be extended to the entire test prep course as well.

As you become familiar with the types of question and answers used in the SAT, you will want to know how to best create support for each type. For example, note how the word “restate” is used. On the worksheet, type in the definition for “restate” and use the numbers in parenthesis. Alternately, type in the number on your own and then the word or phrase in parenthesis. This allows you to restate the answer if necessary.

The question prompts can also be used to determine the order in which items are presented in the strategy. Type in the name of the category to be studied in the prompt. Next, find examples of how this category is used. For example, “In a previous study, the proportion of minority students taking the SAT fell from 60% to 40%. How might this situation have been affected if the racial composition of the student body had been altered?”

Type in the word or phrase for each subcategory. Then, type in the response words to accompany each category. For example, “In previous studies, the proportion of minority students taking the SAT fell from 60% to 40%. How would you address this situation?” Create a new strategy by replacing each category with a relevant sentence and adding the response words.

When you have completed the worksheet, read it again to see whether there are any sentences that do not make sense. If so, rewrite the sentence and change the response category to make it clearer. Repeat the entire strategy for each category. Write down all of the strategies that make sense for you. Record your estimated reading time for each category on the worksheet as well.

Use your notes and your written responses to check your performance on the test. On the test day, you will be asked questions regarding the strategies that you used, which will determine your grade. Therefore, it is important to use all of the information you gained from the race strategy worksheet.

After answering the questions relating to each category, write down the best answers in each category. Compile the sentence and its supporting details into a paragraph. This will serve as your final category review. Use your text evidence and your response in this paragraph. State your argument using appropriate language and use the correct punctuation and grammar.

Write your argument for each category separately. Do not combine your paragraphs. In general, only one part of your text evidence needs to be read. The rest of your paragraph should relate your categories to one another. However, if you find that you have mixed up your sentences, write the category’s names in separate sentences.

Start over each paragraph with “I think” or “I believe” instead of “I did”. This gives the reader a clear sense of what the writer is intending to write in each paragraph. Write down your sentences after reading them and look at how many of your categories are correctly stated in your original response. This method is a powerful race strategy tip and a great time saver. Why wait two hours ago to perfect your race?
