DNA & Protein Synthesis Worksheet Answers

If you are a beginner to the field of biology, then it is probably because you have heard or read about DNA & Protein Synthesis. Or you may even have a simple idea that this is the way the cells in our body work. DNA is the master DNA blueprint of all living things. This DNA is responsible for the regulation of everything living on earth. However, what many people don’t know is that DNA & Protein Synthesis makes up the first building blocks of life.

So what does this mean? Well, it means that DNA & Protein Synthesis is the basis of life on earth. And there are several fascinating areas of medical research that are currently focused on understanding DNA & Protein Synthesis. For example, scientists have identified over 100 genes that control human physical traits. Similarly, through various research studies, they’ve identified millions of pieces of information that code for amino acids needed to build these human traits.

In essence, we are nothing more than combinations of DNA and protein. The information contained in DNA governs the development of our bodies. The information in proteins determines how we will function in physical terms. And information in amino acids determines how well we can utilize these proteins once we get them. A common theme that emerges from all of this research is that DNA and protein do not just sit in a corner and just do nothing.

It seems as though DNA and protein are always in some sort of communication with one another. And it seems like they are also sometimes in conflict with one another. We often hear about the “molecular clock” in medicine. This is a model developed by medical researchers to explain how certain diseases of certain individuals occur because their DNA & protein synthesized information is out of sync with the rest of their body.

Basically, we are all members of a “family” of organisms. We all share a common ancestry back to the very first species of animals walking the planet. Through time, all of the different species have developed their own set of DNA that encodes their characteristics and makes them distinct from one another. It seems as if through evolution, we have accumulated a great deal of information about how to make our bodies function better. But at times, we fail to use some of that information, or integrate it with others.

All living tissue is made up of DNA and RNA. For example, skin contains protein, which is the genetic material that allows it to maintain its structural integrity. Hair and muscle are also made of DNA. When you think about the way we process food, some of the DNA that we use may be responsible for the process we go through in digesting our foods. Sometimes, however, the DNA that we need can become faulty, and no amount of DNA or RNA can fix it.

One example of DNA or RNA malfunctions is when the wrong set of amino acids is used in creating DNA, which then prevents the formation of sperm. The sperm then cannot fertilize the egg and does not survive. This problem has actually been solved through the use of human embryonic stem cells, which are induced at the time of conception. In essence, these cells are simply holding DNA ‘forget’ to become sperm.

Now, you may be thinking this is all wonderful, but how can the human body actually use the information in this worksheet? Well, the human body needs amino acids to synthesize proteins, which in turn play an important role in the health and growth of all living things. But, if the DNA and RNA components are incorrect, there will be no way for the cells to utilize amino acids, which means no growth, no development – absolutely no life.
