Of course there are many more ways to motivate children. The key is to find the one that most suits your situation. For example, I personally like to use “stick and stones” method when trying to get my children to take an interest in things that they don’t really care about. On the other hand, if you are trying to get your child to read books with you, I would usually use rewards along with encouragement.
There is one thing to keep in mind though. If your child wants to learn about how the story ends, you have to let him finish reading the book. It doesn’t have to be a happy ending though. In fact, sometimes the best endings are the darkest. It may not be the happy ending that the child wants, but it is better than never learning at all.
