These resources are available in the form of children’s cartoons. I know it might sound a little silly but it works. Children are naturally curious and if you can get them to start thinking about something while they are sitting on the couch or watching a cartoon, they will be much more likely to pay attention. If you really want to get your kids to focus, try to show them a clip from an episode of something they watched that week. It will immediately start their minds going and they will be much more likely to pick up and begin talking.

Another resource that I use for my children is basic conversation skills worksheets. They are relatively cheap to purchase and they are available online. You should be able to find a worksheet for as little as ten bucks. You should be able to get them to work on doing some basic conversation skills while they are sitting still.

Some parents use puzzles for kids. Now I know some people think this is cruel but it actually works. This is especially true if you have some old board games lying around. Try to get your child to play a game with you where you hide a certain item and see if they can find it. This is a great source of learning basic problem solving skills that will help you teach your kids to use logic.

Other parents use stories. This is another good basic resource for helping kids develop their conversation skills. Tell your kids a story where there is a person in the story who is not speaking and instead just acting. Make sure they are not the character you are trying to make them act out. Use this as a fun activity and they will learn while having fun.

If you do not have any basic worksheets lying around, you can find them online. Websites such as Google even have lists of basic sentence structures and things like that. You can find these and then you can pair these worksheets up with other activities that your kids will enjoy.

A final resource that I use for my kids is a combination of all three of those resources. I give my kids a book to read with a story. Then we read some basic conversation skills out loud to each other. I also encourage my children to mimic the sounds they hear. The end result is that they are developing some basic conversation skills.

When it comes to talking to kids, remember that they are still developing. They do not want to sound as though they are mimicking adults. They need to sound like they are little kids again. Do not use vocabulary that they will not understand. Help them develop their own conversations by giving them the resources they need and then guiding them through the conversations.

This is also a good time to teach your children about body language. There is a lot of information out there about how to make sure you are using eye contact when you are talking to someone. This is a very important part of developing basic conversation skills. When your kids see that you are interested in them, they are much more likely to want to participate in conversations. You want to get them to understand how to talk to you and others through body language.

When you are reading your basic conversation skills to your children, you want to be patient. They may not always understand what you are trying to say. You can get frustrated by this. What you can do is reread what you have written several times until they catch on. Try to go over the same sentences two or three times so that they will be able to grasp what you are talking about.

Reading stories is a great way for your kids to develop these skills. Tell the story out loud and then have them reread it back. It is a fun way to teach them how to have a conversation and listen.
