This lesson introduces you to the Windows shell. The Windows shell is simply the graphical user interface, or GUI, of your computer. You can think of your Windows shell as a “home page” for your PC. This tutorial focuses on the basics worksheet functions.

The first topic that you will tackle in this lesson is the Windows box. A Windows box is a graphical user interface, or GUI, for your computer. When you start a program, the computer “pings” your computer console to give you an affirmative or negative response as to whether you want to start the program. In this lesson, you will learn what a Windows box is, how to open a Windows box, and then how to close a Windows box. For each function that you can perform with a Windows box, there is a corresponding lesson on this worksheet. This is a great way to learn the basics worksheet functions!

The next topic that you will cover in this lesson is the Word document. A Word document is a virtual desktop or workspace. A Worksheet is a container for your worksheets and allows you to arrange your desktop icons and links in a visual manner. This is also one of the basic uses of the Windows box and one of the main reasons that people choose to use Word as their main program for creating a workspace.

Another basic use of a Worksheet is to arrange your documents. You can move, resize, and edit your document as necessary, using either your arrow keys or your mouse buttons. This works best when you are using a full-size keyboard, as it makes clicking easier and moving your cursor around becomes more precise.

In addition to using a Worksheet to group documents, you can also use it to organize your data and create sub-rows for more organization. One great example of a Worksheet use would be to group all of your photographs into a folder. You can use your arrows to group them and drag the folder out to create sub-rows. Each sub-row will display a different picture. You can even use special effects to make the pictures look like they are in your computer monitor, or as you click on them.

You can use the same techniques for other Worksheets that you find useful. You may find that you want to organize your own files more effectively. This can be accomplished with a few clicks of the mouse, as well as the basic functions of your mouse, such as rotating and resizing. If you want to change how your file looks, however, you’ll need to go to the advanced options of the program. Here, you’ll learn about the other basics that are often found in Worksheet programs, such as creating labels, managing the font, and changing the color of text.
